Ghost Signs in New York—Augmented reality project

Ghost signs are fading painted signs and advertisements of times past. In attempt to raise awareness of ghost signs and initiate a conversation for New Yorkers, this augment reality project is created to explore their importance and place within the community.

By using the AR function, audiences can see each brick is extruded with a photo of current fading ghost sign to top. Each brick stands for a building that hosts the piece of ghost sign. The length of each brick represents different heights of the buildings in reality. The addresses are provided along with each photo for audiences to go visit. This project serves an archival purpose through creative usage of technology.
